Recognizing our weakness drives us immediately to God, believing that He is the fountain that he claims to be, that He is the Source and the Helper that He claims to be, that He is the Owner of unlimited resources that for some reason He does not hand out to us as his children but let rain on us, and let us benefit from.
The issue with us and the reason why we cannot see, feel or experience all of this is that we do not recognize that we are weak, or we do but decide to remain in our weakness.
Weakness is supposed to drive us to God. It is the devil who keeps condemning us as he wants us to believe that we cannot run back to God anytime for a sin we have committed over and over again in spite of repentance, so that we stay away.
This leads us to believe that we do not love God and therefore have to put ourselves in a penalty box at least for a couple of days and try to work our way back into faith before we come back to Him. We think we cannot keep asking God for forgiveness and expect Him forgive and cleanse us immediately for the same sin knowing we might do it again. We think to ourselves: isn't that hypocrisy? Isn't that a law view of God? Isnt that treating God as a forgiveness machine?
I have been there so many times and keep struggling with this.
No, as Paul Washer said, it is biblical, it is what poverty of spirit is supposed to do to us.
Most of us Christians apparently believe ourselves to be who we are not, and expect ourselves to be perfect.
The Bible says there is no condemnation for those who are Jesus. That's it. Jesus is the key. So anytime it happens, that is when we have to grab Christ and claim that we believe in his promises. We should understand that we are in a different realm now, that we are free and saved, we have been removed out of Adam's way, all of our sins have been paid for.
One thing that should remain clear to us is that we will never be able to this on our own, that would only keep us away from God and that is exactly what satan wishes for, so that he can strike at will. Let us remember: "Jesus is the Key".
